My senior thesis project explores how arts and crafts can help children with anxiety learn about their mental health in an approachable way. Unwind, a Toolkit for Worried Kids, is designed to help children comprehend anxiety through fun activities that help them develop emotional intelligence and open up with loved ones.
Brainstorming

My research and feedback led me to the concept of a "toolbox" full of arts and crafts supplies, worksheets, and activity cards meant to both educate and treat children with anxiety. The document below articulates what these resources would consist of.
Process

After sketching, I created and photographed some of my own crafts to include in my designs. My process involved a lot of photography, crafting, and assembling before eventually moving to the digital aspects of my design, where I combined photography, illustration, and hand-lettered type to create my style.

Card and Worksheet Designs
The toolkit includes 3 different card sets and several worksheets based on CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for children to complete with the help of their parents. An age-appropriate anxiety question, problem, or scenario is introduced by the parent and accompanied by a creative activity for the child to complete.
